Finally Friday

Sisters are the one thing in life that can be difficult to live with sometimes, but you definitely can’t live with out them! I dropped my sister (Alina) off at the airport Tuesday morning to head back home for the summer. Monday night we had a little sleep over at my house and let me tell you how happy I am that those only happen once in a while. She took up the ENTIRE bed the WHOLE night. At one point during the night, I debated leaving my extremely comfortable queen size bed to sleep on the couch with a blanket and pillow. I can’t believe how fast time goes by. It feels like it was just yesterday when I helped move her into the SDSU dorms, on the hottest, most scorching day of the summer that I have ever experienced in San Diego. Now, she is officially a sophomore in college. I envy her focus and determination and at times I wish we were identical twins so she could take that ridiculously hard class for me….. And most likely get the highest grade in the class. She was blessed with the brains of the family but she is also a dedicated student and works tirelessly. Alina doesn’t beat around the bush or mince words. In fact, she is a woman of few words, but with meaning and clarity….. (Sometimes bordering unintentional, insensitivity) I should take notes on her approach and add a twist of softness for a perfect balance. If there is one person I turn to for a 100% honest opinion, it is Alina. She has no problem telling me (or anyone else for that matter) that my outfit is embarrassing, you shouldn’t eat that burger or I think you should go to the gym. Tomorrow is her “golden birthday” in other words she turns 19 on May 19th. I always get a little teary eyed when I can’t be home for special events such as my other sister, Tiana’s Sweet 16th birthday. It also could just be the fact that I am jealous that they will enjoy a nice meal at one of our favorite restaurants in Danville, Piatti’s. This weekend while my family will be enjoying the sunshine and a delicious meal, I will be in the library trying to survive the last few dreaded hours of Finals. Happy Birthday Lina — I’ll let you borrow my Naked eye shadow next time you’re in San Diego. hehe. Love you (Last years post seen here)
