Turkey Meatloaf from The Clean Plate

May 19

Recently obsessed with "The Clean Plate" cookbook. Everything is truly clean and boxer friendly, it rarely uses sugar and excess salt. Last week I tried this Turkey meat loaf with Nomato glaze and was very suspicious about it prior to my first bite. Honestly, it didn't look like anything special, but OMG it was delicious. Prime "don't judge a book by its cover" example. I thought it was going to be one of the one easy and boring meals with little flavor, however, that was NOT the case. I am excited to try a spin on it in the near future. So stay tuned. For now, see the recipe below.

The onions

  • Heat the oil over medium heat and add the chopped onions. Cook until browned. Set aside
  • The Glaze

  • Combine all the glaze ingredients in a sauce pan.
  • Add 1/4 of the caramelized onions and continue to cook. Cook on low and slow to avoid burning
  • The TURKEY

  • In a large bowl, combine the Meat Loaves mixture + the remaining caramelized onions.
  • Bake in a bread pan for about 30 minutes then you can take it out and add the nomato glaze and place back in the over. Cook until the meat thermometer reads ready.
  • Slice and serve alone or make a tasty meatloaf sandwich on whole wheat organic bread.
