Zara has recently been one of my shopping weaknesses over the past few weeks. Their Spring line is absolutely to die for. My closet lacks a variety of skirts which is why I decided to pick up a few during my last visit. I particularly love this bright high waist skirt because it is so versatile which is why I have already worn it on numerous outings. For a morning coffee date and an afternoon full of errands, I decided to pair it with a crop top and a jean jacket to keep the San Diego vibe….. casual but bright & fresh.
When I think of Spring I think of color, dresses and warm weather. I love coats and boots but after a few months of having to “bundle” up here in San Diego I love being able to wear a maxi-dress around town and not have to bring a jacket around with me. Here are some of my must have’s for this spring.
On Friday the weather was cold and dreary, which in many ways mimicked the way that I was feeling. I thoroughly enjoyed the past few weeks as I travelled across the U.S from L.A to New York To Texas and back to San Diego. However, after completing several weeks of travel and living out of a suitcase, dining out, dealing with long lines of airport security, flying in and out of airports and sleeping in different hotels, my energy level was at an ultimate low. I’ve been in denial about feeling sick because I don’t like to be sick but the reality of my symptoms are unfortunately, undeniably real. I woke up on Friday morning to the sound of rain, it was calming and peaceful. I spent the majority of the day on the couch catching up on my shows (New Girl, Modern Family, Pretty Little Liars and more). I decided to throw on something comfy to meet a friend for a late afternoon lunch. I threw my hair in a messy braid, put on some red-lipstick and ran out the door. I made sure that I was wearing something warm and I even brought extra layers with me so that I wouldn’t be miserably freezing during lunch.
On Saturday, my mom, my sister and I hopped in the car at 4 in the morning to make a quick trip down to San Diego. The moment that we arrived to town we all shifted into non-stop work mode… and we were very productive. We dedicated our time and energy and completed a massive deep cleaning on my house. Then we moved furniture from one house to another as well as cleaned and unloaded huge boxes of appliances, kitchen accessories and utensils. Finally, we tossed unwanted junk consolidated boxes and re-stacked furniture so we were able to down size our storage unit. Our time in San Diego was limited so we had to accomplish all of this in less than 48 hours including our 8+ hour drive each way. When we were packing up the car I threw in my rain boots… my mom and my sister looked at me and laughed. She said “funny, rain boots in San Diego?” I looked right back at her and said, “It’s better safe than sorry”. Saturday, was sunny, dry and beautiful (not rain boot weather) BUT Sunday was different. The sky was grey and gloomy, the rain didn’t fall until later that afternoon and of course it started to pour in between car loads from storage to the houses. I purchased these rain boots two years ago and I must say that they were the best investment because as soon as the rain started to fall, I was prepared. I don’t know about you but I absolutely hate it when my pants are wet… RAIN BOOTS fixed this problem. Now when rainy days are in the forecast I look forward to being able to run errands in the rain with out being miserable.
There’s something about the simplicity of lace that I am completely drawn to. I found this dress at Foreign Exchange a few days ago; the dress was one of those staple items that I couldn’t afford to leave behind. Believe it or not, most of the time, a simple wardrobe speaks volumes. It is always a pleasure to find a piece that doesn’t require a lot of additional accent accessories. I paired this ivory colored, simple petite lace dress with one of my favorite necklaces. This outfit was not complete until I added my current obsession…….., my favorite new bright neon clutch which added that punch of color to the outfit!
